Eye color

A small premium for a very visible trait.

Eye color moves the result only slightly. Green receives the highest adjustment, while blue and brown receive a smaller one. This is intentionally one of the lowest-value variables in the quiz.

Eye facts

The eye is made of more than two million working parts.
A person blinks roughly a dozen times per minute—more than 10,000 times in a long waking day.
Gray eyes are a light, low-melanin variation of blue eyes and are uncommon.
Some population surveys have found blue eyes slightly more often in boys than girls, but ancestry explains far more of the distribution than sex.
Under excellent conditions, the human eye can detect the light of a candle from many miles away.
Albinism greatly reduces pigment in the iris; reflected light from blood vessels can make the eyes appear pink or red.

Does color blindness mean black and white?

Usually not. Most color-vision deficiency changes how certain reds, greens, or blues are distinguished rather than removing color completely. Different forms of color blindness produce different experiences.
